Become a certified Freediver Are you ready for the ultimate way to explore underwater? Learn to freedive and experience the ocean in an exciting new way as you explore beautiful dive sites on a single breath. Earning an SSI freediving certification is much easier than you think with our wide range of recreational freediving programs for all ages. SSI offers different freediving certification levels to suit every water enthusiast’s needs and interests. You will be able to explore the underwater world in many different ways and learn about the different types of unique equipment freedivers use to achieve their diving goals.

Get certified as a freediver The SSI Freediver program is the best first step to take and certifies you to freedive with a buddy in open water to a depth of 20 meters. If you do not have time for our Freediver program, join the SSI Basic Freediver program and get certified to freedive safely with your buddy in a pool or confined water up to a depth of five meters. You can upgrade easily to the Freediver certification at any time. How do I start?

Step 1: Orientation
First off, we need to know who you are. Come by the shop to get your free personal orientation where we can discuss all the class options that are available to you as well as everything that is involved for you to take one of our classes.

Step 2: Classroom
You are learning to dive, which means you are also learning to be awesome, and it is supposed to be FUN. However, every now and then we have to buckle down and be serious. Most of your classroom portion is finished online, all you have to do is come in for a couple of hours to review the information and take a test.

Step 3: Open Water Simulator Time
Practice, practice, practice! We will have you practice and repeat all of your skills in the open water simulator until they become second nature to you. There is at least twice as much open water simulator time as classroom time. There will be at least 1 breathing session as outlined in the course and 2 poo;/confined water sessions.

Step 4: Open Water Dives
Time to take the plunge. You will have a minimum of 2 dives spread out over 1-2 days to put everything you have learned into practice. Now you can show off your skills and be officially certified to dive the world.
